Essential oils and active plant substances
Sereni-d® products are inspired by nature and have been specially developed to combat and control bed bugs both curatively and preventively. The formulas are complex, precise adjustments to the concentration of active ingredients and essential oils of plant origin, to combine maximum efficacy and durability. Thanks to their mix of essential oils and pyrethrum flower or geraniol, Sereni-d® sprays last up to 12 days in optimal conditions of use and are highly effective on bed bugs at all stages of development (eggs, larvae or nymphs and adults).
Cloves
Clove essential oil is particularly effective in the fight against bed bugs. Composed of 80% of the eugenol molecule, it has powerful repellent, parasiticidal and insecticidal properties on several types of insects, particularly bed bugs. Various household pests will try to escape its very strong odour, which disturbs their olfactory receptors.
Pyrethrum flower
Pyrethrum is produced from the Dalmatian Chrysanthemum (or Chrysanthenum Cinerariafolium), a perennial daisy-like flower native to the mountainous regions of Europe. The term “pyrethrum” refers to the powder produced from the dried ground flower which acts by contact or ingestion on the nervous system of bed bugs (cold-blooded insects). It disrupts bed bugs’ neurotransmitters and paralyses their lymphatic system. Pyrethrum does not act on warm-blooded animals or humans.
Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus essential oil contains an average of 70% Citronellol, which is effective against insects, as is Citronella essential oil. Citronellol kills and repels insects, as mentioned above for Java citronella.
Lavender Aspic
In the case of Lavender Aspic, it’s the Linalol molecule, present in its essential oil at a concentration of 25-50%, which is parasiticidal and helps to control pests. Lavender essential oil also contains insect-killing camphor. Its scent is overpowering for bed bugs, but pleasant for humans. Lavender essential oil is officially listed in the European register as an active insecticide and repellent against bed bugs.
Peppermint
When used on bed bugs, peppermint oil is powerful enough to kill and repel the insects. Its strong fragrance due to its high menthol content effectively repels bed bugs. This ingredient has a pungent odour that lingers and deters bed bugs for several hours after application. Peppermint essential oil is an active substance officially recognised in Europe for its insecticidal and repellent effect against bed bugs.
Spearmint
Spearmint and peppermint differ only in their menthol content. Peppermint has over 40% menthol, while mentholated spearmint has only 1%, giving peppermint a stronger “minty” flavour. Both are effective in the bed bug elimination process. Their strong mentholated scent is also a powerful repellent.
Palmarosa
In Palmarosa essential oil, it’s the geraniol molecule that acts as a pest repellent and insecticide. This molecule is highly effective and renowned in pest control. Geraniol is an active substance officially recognised in Europe for its insecticidal and repellent effect against bed bugs.
Oregano
Bed bugs hate the smell of oregano. This essential oil is highly effective as a preventive measure against bed bugs.
Tea tree
Tea Tree essential oil has recognised anti-parasitic properties, altering the cell membranes of pests and preventing their development. The scent repels bed bugs, and if it comes into contact with them, it damages the bed bugs’ exoskeleton. Once their protective outer envelope is damaged, these parasites dehydrate and dry out.
Thyme
Thanks to its active ingredient thymol, thyme has highly effective insecticidal and repellent properties for killing and repelling bed bugs. Thymol is the most effective molecule against bed bugs.
Java citronella
Citronellol is the molecule with the highest content in Citronella essential oil. This molecule repels insects and destroys their larvae. Citronella essential oil has powerful repellent, anti-parasitic and insecticidal properties. It kills bed bugs and their eggs by acting directly on their exoskeletons, breaking the reproduction cycle of bed bug colonies and stopping infestations. Citronellol is an active substance that is officially recognised in Europe for its insecticidal and repellent effect against bed bugs.
Camomile
Known for its calming and anti-inflammatory properties, this medicinal plant helps relieve symptoms associated with bed bug bites. Indeed, camomile is famous for its soothing properties, helping to reduce itching and calm skin irritations. The anti-inflammatory compounds present in camomile ease allergic reactions and relieve discomfort, while reducing the swelling and redness associated with the bites. Camomile also has healing properties. Bed bug bites can leave marks and scars on the skin, especially if scratched. Camomile contains antioxidants and healing compounds that promote cell regeneration and help accelerate the healing process of damaged skin.
Geranium
Geranium bourbon stands out for its soothing benefits on bed bug bites, as well as its repellent and insecticidal effect on these parasites. Geranium bourbon has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that can help relieve the itching caused by bed bug bites. It also contains anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce these unwanted skin reactions, promoting faster healing. Finally, geranium bourbon essential oil is an excellent natural insecticide and bed bug repellent. It contains active compounds that disrupt bed bugs’ nervous systems, killing them and preventing them from reproducing.
Macadamia
Macadamia vegetable oil is extracted from macadamia nuts, a nut that is native to Australia. This precious oil is renowned for its nourishing and moisturising benefits for the skin. Rich in desirable fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins, macadamia oil offers numerous benefits for the skin. It intensely moisturises, regenerates skin tissue, fights the signs of ageing, soothes inflammation and has a light texture that suits different skin types.
Geraniol
Geraniol is an organic compound naturally present in a variety of plants, including geranium, lemongrass and rose. Geraniol is renowned for its repellent power, offering a natural solution to keep unwanted pests at bay. It offers a natural, non-toxic alternative to chemical insecticides, while being environmentally friendly. By using products containing geraniol, you can protect your environment from bed bugs effectively without compromising your health or that of your family.
